Setting up OneDrive storage

How to connect Microsoft OneDrive as your OTIS encrypted data storage.

How OneDrive storage works

OTIS creates a folder called OTIS Intelligence Data in your OneDrive and stores all encrypted data there. All data is encrypted with your client key before upload — Microsoft sees only encrypted ciphertext.

During activation

OneDrive can be connected during the activation flow. Click Connect OneDrive, sign in with your Microsoft account, and authorise OTIS.

After activation

To switch to OneDrive from another storage provider, go to Settings, click Migrate storage, and select OneDrive. OTIS copies all existing data before switching.

Permissions granted

OTIS requests Files.ReadWrite scope — limited to files it creates. It cannot read, modify, or delete any existing OneDrive files.

Microsoft 365 compatibility

OneDrive storage works with personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 accounts. There is no conflict between using Azure AD for licence tracking and OneDrive for storage — these are separate OAuth connections with separate scopes.

What you will see in OneDrive

A folder named OTIS Intelligence Data will appear in your OneDrive. Inside are encrypted .enc files. Do not move, rename, or delete these files.
